Blogging for perfection.

The number of draft posts I have just sitting there is actually crazy. 'The picture is not good enough..' 'It sounds too boring...' I tell myself. As if I forgot who I'm actually blogging for. Me, myself.

So why is there this perfection attached to blogging? The stigma here is ridiculous. I mean everyone has to start somewhere, grow from something, improve.
So why am I depriving myself of that chance, and not posting as much as I want, because what, the picture doesn't match my other posts? As I write this, I get more and more frustrated at myself. This strive for perfection everywhere is killing all the beauty in each and one of us.

I salute the bloggers who take flat lays worthy of pinning to my home decor board on Pinterest, but the thing is, all good things come with practice and if you're shutting yourself off straight away, you're not giving yourself that opportunity.

I know this is a short one, but I just feel like I needed to say this to myself and start putting content out like I wanted to and like I keep telling myself, but every time I'M the one to stop myself. Learn from my mistake and don't ever stop yourself. And as I come to a close of this blog, I realise that I don't actually have a picture, so here it goes, right into the draft... (19/10/16)

Wow, isnt it funny? Like this is exactly what I mean, this post has been in my drafts for over a month. What a joke. But it's going up today, because why not.

I could go on FOREVER about the stigma attached to having a nice theme, nice photography, quality etc etc etc because of just how many bloggers are blogging. BUT this is just a little reminder to each and every one of you reading this, do you, because in the end that's all that matters. If your blog posts don't make you smile, why are you doing it? Who for? Why?

Lots of Love
a.

  1. I totally agree and sometimes we all need to think this. I never think things are good enough to post or I think people won't be intrested in other things. But this is about me!!

    1. Thank you for reading! I agree with you, I think it's so important to stick to what you love. I saw a blog post about tips on blogging, and I thought it was FAB! But then I kept thinking about it throughout the day, and it basically said how you should see what others like most and then do that. Which i agree with if it's what YOU love too, but I feel you can really tell when you blog/vlog something that you don't 100% enjoy. xoxox

    1. Awww please don't ever feel like you have to do that (I know it's easier said than done) but you should be proud of everything you post, because at the time you've written it it meant something to you, it may have bought you happiness or maybe it made you smile. Always trust in your writing, and I'm trying to work on that too, but it's all a process and we shouldn't punish ourselves or the time we've spent creating something <3

  3. Yeah I was new to blogging 2 years ago and my pictures were terrible. I mean, I took photography classes but I wasn't experienced with flatlays. Plus, I was finishing up my last year of school so I was too busy to take nice pictures. I do sometimes feel like that was why I didn't get as much followers. It does suck but it takes practice to get your blog to be where you want it to be

  4. Hello Angelika,

First of all, congratulations! Hitting publish equals moving through fears. :)

I'm learning that perfection is really another word for FEAR. It's fear of being judged, fear of not being good enough, fear of falling on our face in front of others, etc.

I just wrote a blog post about this very topic, and it was the very first article for my new blog. Funny, because I was having the same exact issues, and I was all jammed up and not publishing a post that was all about not taking he first step of a journey.

I mean, the article itself was about putting yourself out there and moving through "perfection," yet I was over-analyzing as I wrote, a bit. LOL I've since moved through it and published the article, as you have. :)

Anyhow, I just found your article through a Twitter search because I thought it would be interesting to see what others had to say about all of this "perfection" business. I believe the best thing we all can do is to always focus on writing in our own voice and just set aside any worries about how someone else would do it. That's when we do our best work, and that's when we shine through as authentic, raw, and real. People can taste those qualities, and the world needs more of that. :)

  5. Hi Sean, thank you for you lovely comment and I'm glad you enjoyed my blog post!

I completely agree with you, perfection is an illusion and it really is fear a the end of the day.

I'm excited to read your blog now, it's nice to know so many people feel the same, but it's also a shame at the same time. I just hope people realise that you can't be great form the get go. You'r article sounds very interesting!

Exactly, if you write about what you love and write with love, you will attract that sort of readership, if you write about what you think people will like, you will attract the wrong kind, and you will 100% break and stop all together. So many youtubers are having this revelation and it's such a simple concept. Write what you love, love what you write.

    1. Thank you Danni!! It's so true! It's hard sometimes as it's easy to get caught up in analytics, but you need to love what you write! <3 xoxo

  7. Ahhh so true! I think the less perfect a blog post is, the more interesting and relatable! I can be kinda obsessed with editing and all that but perfection is crazy to try to achieve- and who has time for that these days? Unless you're a pro blogger and it's your job maybe but it's def not my full time job so I just do what I can the best I can and call it a day haha!

    1. People get sooooo obsessed with it an just forget why they started writing it in the first place! I think blogs now days lack authenticity because everyone is writing what people want them to write and it's never going to be authentic like that! Even if you're a full time blogger, bloggers are too rigid now days with their content. They just need to be more free and take it back ad ask themselves why they started! Thank you for reading and taking the time to leave a comment! xoxoxo
