Could there really be a £3 Kylie Jenner Lip Kit dupe? Well...
I popped into Primark for some 90p cotton pads and somehow ended up leaving with a full bag of goodies. It happens all. the. time. For someone who studies marketing, I get wayyy too distracted by things that look pretty. Damn me.
So I'm back with a beauty post today as this lipkit really stood out to me. Before I say any more, I have tried the Kylie lipkits before so I may make a reference or two towards them.
Now, as a £3 lip product that contains both a pencil and a matte lip stick, lets cut it some slack. It might not last for 3 days straight, but it does give it a good go. Before we jump on, have you tried these? What do you think?
I only picked up one because they only seemed to have this one in stock, and I think it would make for a wonderful lip colour especially with a little bit of tan... Which i don't have, so I wasn't a huge fan of the colour itself, but lets not get distracted form what matters!
The Pencil:
The Pencil:
+ It's super soft
+ It goes on smoothly on the lips
+ It's not drying
As far as pencils go, I don't have any cons or problems with the formula, it does what I need it to do. However, in terms of packaging, I found myself wishing that the lid would have a little sharpener (like the MUA ones), it would be more practical for travel and I always appreciate when brands do that.
The lipstick:
+ Ridiculously Pigmented
+ Lasting power is good. It lasts a good 3 hours on my lips
- The smell is a little plasticy. I personally don't like it, but it does mean that there is no added fragrance (or at least it feels like there isn't)
- The colour is not true to the packaging. It came out super light and peachy on my lips, and I was hoping it would be darker.
I was overall quite impressed with the Primark lip kits. I think it all comes down to the brand and whether you're bothered you have a Primark version over having the Kylie one. In my own experience, they aren't ridiculously different product and formula wise, it's a great alternative. BUT, packaging wise, Kylie ones are nicer, they feel more durable, the wand seems better, it's more percise and not as long.
Be aware, as any matte lipstick it will go into every, every crease of your lips so please please please ensure you have exfoliated lips!

They also have £1 lipliners which are literally amazing quality. If it was a blind test, I'm pretty sure no one would have guessed they were from there! Let me know what you think if you do! xoxoxo
DeleteThis colour looks lovely on you! I adore Primark make-up, for the price, I don't think you can beat it!

I agree with you! Although if you're used to Charlotte Tilbury it's the plasticky feel to the packaging and the smell of course would put you off! But I'm very surprised at the quality! Thanks for reading xoxo
DeleteThanks for this review! I really want to give these ago as well as a few other of the Primark cosmetics line. I'm long overdue a good Primark trip!
ReplyDeleteAlso, off topic, but I love your brows! Have you ever done a post/tutorial with what products/techniques you use?

I'm not sure about other but this particular one didn't. Although now that it's summer and I'm more tanned it looks so much better on the lips! xoxox
DeleteI've gotten one of these lip kits on Monday in Chocolate Brownie and I'm really impressed by it ! It's really comfy and longlasting and boy, I didn't think it would be that good ! I've already tried their other liquid matte lipsticks (the smaller round ones) which are even better but this, even though the formula is really thin and liquid, has astounded me ! ^^
ReplyDeleteHave a very nice day !
